Standard Foam Grades
Standard polyether foams can be specially formulated to meet a wide range of physical quality specs including flammability characteristics such as FMVSS302, CAL117, UL94 HBF, HF-2, HF-1 and many. Each product type listed below are specially designed with different additives and properties to make it the most suitable product for its designated market.
|Type||Density lb./ft3||IFD@25% lb/50 in.2||Tensile Strength psi (min.)||Elongation % (min.)|
|AB (Flame Lamination)||1.3 - 3.4||25 - 120||10||90 - 175|
|AL (Adhesive Lamination)||1.3 - 3.8||40 - 210||10||80 - 175|
|AF (Flame Lamination w/ higher FR)||1.7 - 2.7||40 - 120||12||125 - 150|
|ET (Standard Ether)||1.4 - 2.8||35 - 130||12||80 - 110|
|FL (Thermoformable)||1.4 - 2.0||40 - 170||12||80 - 125|
|FS (Thermoformable w/ biocide)||1.4 - 4.5||40 - 170||12||80 - 150|
*NOTE: Properties listed above are ranges available for each product type group. It does not represent spec of one single product. For more details, please inquire.
Designed to be used in flame lamination applications, especially for automotive trim systems. These foam grades will pass FMVSS302.
The same as the AB foam grades with additional FR added to allow a composite material to pass theFMVSS302 burn test where other parts of the composite would nominally make it difficult to pass.
Designed to be used in automotive trim systems where PSA and other adhesives are used instead of Flame Lamination to apply the fabric. These foam grades will pass FMVSS302.
Standard ether foam grade with no additives. In the higher-density ranges, these foam grades may pass FMVSS302 but are not designed specifically to do so.
These foam grades are thermoformable foams designed to also be used in flame lamination. As with the standard ether products, the higher-density grades may pass FMVSS302 but are not specifically designed to do so.
These foam grades are the same as the FL grades but with a biocide additive. These grades were originally designed to be used in the boat seat cover industry where antimicrobial additives were critical to a successful product. These products are also widely used in the shoe insole industry.
Standard polyester foams can be specially formulated to meet a wide range of physical quality specs including flammability characteristics such as FMVSS302. Standard polyester foams are available in a wide range of colors but are most often produced in White and Charcoal. The uses for these foam grades are vast and can include packaging, disposable diaper comfort strips, acoustical applications and speaker surrounds.
